Miranda Rudegeair

Miranda Rudegeair

Founder / Dance Instructor

Miranda grew up in Melbourne, Australia, and began teaching dance in 2000 after studying dance full-time.

In 2012, she discovered Groove Dance, created by Misty Tripoli, and trained to become a Groove Master Trainer. Groove completely changed the way Miranda thought about dance—and herself. Its core beliefs are simple:

  • No one cares what you look like.
  • You should look different.
  • Your way is the right way.
  • You can’t get it wrong.

This was the opposite of everything Miranda had previously been taught in dance classes. For the first time, she found a way of dancing that encouraged her to be completely herself.

After several Groove retreats in Hawaii, Miranda realized that she wanted to make the islands her home—and spend her life doing what brought her the most joy: dancing with kids. She moved to Honolulu in 2015 and founded Hawaii Dance Bomb with one goal: to spread joy through dance.

At Hawaii Dance Bomb, dance isn’t centered around competitions, scores or getting every move “right.” Miranda believes dance shouldn’t feel like a test that students can pass or fail—it is a form of self-expression. She and her team teach skills and technique while giving every dancer the freedom to develop their own style, creativity and confidence. Rather than teaching students to copy their teachers, Miranda and her team encourage every dancer to discover their own unique way of moving.

These lessons extend far beyond the dance floor, helping kids and adults feel more comfortable being exactly who they are.

Miranda has taught in schools across Oʻahu since 2016. As demand for joyful, welcoming dance programs grew, she built a team of fun, talented and caring teachers who share her belief that dance should feel good.

Today, Hawaii Dance Bomb runs studios and teaches after-school programs throughout Oʻahu.  It also brings dance parties and Silent Discos to schools, communities and special events.

Life is serious enough. Dance should be an explosion of fun!
